▲ Damien BioDamien de Bastier has been practicing yoga and meditation for over 30 years. It was ‘love at first stretch’ when he was introduced to the ashtanga practice as it combined his passions for sports, meditation and self-inquiry. As an authorized teacher his intention is to share the gifts of the ashtanga method as they have been transmitted to him by his teachers, Pattabhi Jois and Sharath Jois. As a guide, Damien draws from backgrounds in psychology, bodywork and yoga therapy to create a safe and nurturing environment in order to inspire people to dive in the ocean of yoga and embark on the transformational journey toward themselves. When not teaching at his school in Bali, Damien travels around the world and shares his passion for yoga with insight, humor and compassion. Damien enseña en inglés. Si necesitas alguna explicación en castellano, te la podrá traducir, ya que pasó un tiempo en España.
PROGRAMA→ The Shala is going to be open at 6 am for self practice only. This opportunity is optional.
→ 8-11h | SWIMMING IN THE OCEAN OF BREATH
Join this workshop to discover the organic elements of your breath and how to use them to create more awareness, space and support in your yoga practice. Using a scuba diving metaphor we will meet the jellyfish of our diaphragm, the sea-snake of our spine and find our gills to breathe like manta rays.. Deeply nurturing this workshop teaches us how to connect with our inner ecology and find softness inside our yoga to cultivate harmony in the flow of life.
→ 11:30-14:30h | YOGA OF PHILOSOPHY
Hatha Yoga Pradipika.
Written by yoga Svatmarama in the XV century, Is a great map unfolds the key points for practices on our yoga mat. We will look into the 4 chapters of this text to explore the different layers of yoga from Asana, to pranayama, to bandhas & mudras and finally meditative awareness.
“Yoga is very much concerned with what happens in the other 22 hours of your day.”
→ 16:30-19:30h | YOGA OF ANATOMY
Our body functions in a dynamic balance between mobility and stability. In this fun and insightful workshop we explore our anatomy from inside out to look at the most common strategies for stability and see how they may limit our mobility. We will learn practical tools to find better support and grace for our yoga practice and also daily life.. Damien approaches anatomy from an experiential perspective where it is more about feeling and sensing than remembering all the names/parts.
→ 8-11h | ROCKET AND AIM FOR THE MOON
Created by my friend Larry Shultz, founder of the “It’s Yoga” schools from San Francisco,The Rocket is an Ashtanga-based Vinyasa sequence that combines elements from 1st, 2nd and 3rd series to build a solid foundation, experiment with more advanced asanas and begin to fly.. A fun and empowering series, Larry called it the Rocket because “it gets you there faster!!” For serious fun only, climb aboard the Rocket and aim for the moon.
(Intermediate to advanced)
→ 11:30-14:30 | YOGA OF PHILOSOFY
WAWADIA = What are we actually doing in Asana?
A conversation on what we are really doing on our yoga mats. Growing the tools we learn in practice to support our daily life. We explore the hidden dimensions of breath, bandhas, drishtis and vinyasa to see how they can be applied to the bigger picture..
“The body is the external part of the mind, mind is the internal part of the body.. So anatomy is really the philosophy of your body and philosophy studies the anatomy of the mind.”
→ 16:30-19:30h | KINSTRETCH
Is a mobility system that brings more intelligence in our movement patterns. Focusing on bringing out our restrictions and methodically working at erasing them. Uses strength and tissue resistance to modulate the nervous system into creating space. Very safe and efficient..
→ 8-11h | PHYSICS OF FLIGHT
In this workshop we will apply the principles of open core stabilization to generate strength and stability while balancing on our hands. We will explore different forms of arm balances building up from simple to more complex. beginners to advanced practitioners welcome..
→ 11.30-14:30 | ROLL & RELEASE
A great workshop to discover the dynamics of fascia and use tennis balls + Yin Yoga to work out knots and tension patterns. A great tool to warm up, pre-hab, or re-hab old injuries and heal ourself to recover wholeness.
